1. LAMPI - island marine reserve 60 miles from Kawthoung in the Mergui Archipelago
2. LOKANANDA - small animal reserve in Bagan
3. HLAWGA PARK - 1540 acres park 22 miles north of Yangon
4. MOEYONGYI LAKE - 40 square miles lake: natural reserve with many birds including migratory. 2 hours drive from Yangon. Has teakwood guest house and hotel (open October to April). Best time November to February when there are at least 10,000 birds
5. SHWE OO DOW - reserve with Tigers, Leopards, 2-horn Rhinocerous (maybe extinct now) etc north of Pyin Oo Lwin.
7. ALAUGDAW KATHAPA - very large national park with much biodiversity. 3,000ft above sea level. 397,026 acres. 981 miles from Yangon in Sagaing division. Has guest houses
8. RAKHINE YOMA - Elephant reserve 678 square miles. Between Thandwe and Gwa
9. MINSOETAU - nature reserve 5,584 acres 66 miles south of Mandalay - has Golden Deer, Jungle Cats, Star Tortoises etc
10. TAMANTHI - in Sagaing Division near Homalin. Has very large Butterflies (Atlas Moth) and endangered Jungle Duck
11. CHATTHEIN - reserve 577 miles from Yangon. Very old reserve and has much grass and therefore lots of Deer, Wolves, Hyena, Birds, large Bats, Medicinal Plants. USA Smithsonian Institute supports this reserve and records data. Has guest house. Area 104 square miles
