Mom's Kitchen: the best Singapore food in Myanmar - try the delicious chicken curry and daily Singapore Chicken Rice ~ in front of Super One Supermarket

50th Street Bar & Grill: good food including very good pizzas at reasonable prices ~ 9/13, 50th Street, Botataung Township - www.50thstreetyangon.com

Happy Noodle House: a very wide range of noodle dishes at reasonable prices on ~ Inya Road

Shwe Shan Kan: chinese food in a nice location overlooking Inya lake ~ 132B Inya Road

Zawgyi House: nice cafe serving a mixture of food at reasonable prices ~ next to Scott's Market on the roadside so it's a good place to watch the world go by. Aircon available also and there is a garden at the back of the building

Adorn’s Kitchen:  Good Chinese cuisine inside the Grand Meeyahta Executive Residences on Bogyoke Aung San Street and next to Scott's Market

Golden Duck: "Coffee-shop" style with the best Roasted Duck in Myanmar ~ on Strand Road with many other branches

Junior Golden Duck: same owners as Golden Duck but with excellent view of the sunset over Yangon River and serves more variety; very good steamed fish ~ Nanthida Jetty, Yangon River (upstairs overlooking river across from the Strand Hotel)

Singapore Kitchen: good food at reasonable prices (very good steamed fish) - Hotel International, Athlone Road

Theik Di Shin: air-conditioned and very good Myanmar cuisine at reasonable prices ~ 331/333 Anawrahta Street

Ko's Kitchen: Hot Thai food! 282, Corner of 19th & 80th Street

Lashio Lay: "coffeeshop" style serving excellent Shan food at very reasonable prices ~ 65 23rd St, Between: 83rd & 84th Streets

Oriental House: very vast air-conditioned dining hall serving reasonably-priced Chinese cuisine with very nice Tim Sum in the morning and lunchtime ~ Corner of 64th & 27th Street

Cafe City: air-conditioned coffeeshop serving a mix of foods including burgers. Open very late ~ 66th St, Between 20th & 22nd Streets. Opposite the Eastern Palace wall

BBB: air-conditioned restaurant serving European food at reasonable prices ~ 76th St, Bet: 26th & 27th Streets

Golden Duck: very good air-conditioned restaurant serving Chinese food and the same roasted duck as in the Yangon restaurant of the same name ~ Corner of 80th & 81st Streets opposite the Western Palace wall

Honey Garden Restaurant: serves reasonably-priced Chinese food ~ Corner of 70th & 29th Streets

Green Elephant Restaurant: garden restaurant serving slightly expensive Myanmar and Chinese food ~ 3H, Block 801, 27th Street, Between: 64th & 65th Streets near to the Sedona Hotel

Ayeyarwaddy Riverside Restaurant: very nice restaurant on the banks of the Ayeyawaddy River serving a variety of foods; nice to see the sunset over the river ~ Kannar Road, Between 26th & 35th Streets.

Amarapura Restaurant: serving Thai food in the garden ~ Sinsweput Quarter, Amarapura

Lakshmi Indian Restaurant: coffee shop style serving good Indian food at very reasonable prices ~ 225, 28th Street between 80th & 81st Streets

* Bagan *

Sarabar Restaurant: very reasonably-priced restaurant just outside the Tharabar Gate Hotel in Old Bagan; serves a mixture of foods including some of the best deep-fried Jungle Chicken in the world with no coating on the outside!!  There is another restaurant next door called Sarabar Gate 2 which also serves good food but is more expensive and doesn't do the Jungle Chicken. If you do order the chicken ask them just to season with salt and pepper; sometimes they try to please and put that dreadful coating on the outside as is done in fast food restaurants in other parts of the world

Mahar Bagan Restaurant: in New Bagan and serving very good Myanmar, Chinese and European cuisine in a very nice setting ~ Khayee Road, Khan Laung Quarter, New Bagan (near to the Chauk-Bagan Roads intersection)

Queen Restaurant: reasonably-priced Chinese food ~ Wetkyi-Inn Village between Nyaung U.and Old Bagan

Green Elephant Riverside Restaurant: serves a variety of dishes at reasonable prices and in a delightful setting ~ New Bagan

BBB: serves Western food at reasonable prices ~ Wetkyi-Inn Village, Nyaung U Village

Aroma Indian Restaurant: good Indian food more in the Western style. Lonely Planet says it's the best Indian food in Myanmar but we beg to differ! ~ Yar Kinn Hotel Road, Nyaung Oo Village

* Pyin Oo Lwin *

Feel: Good Thai and European food at reasonable prices. Walking distance from Royal Parkview Hotel - Kan Taw Lay, Kan Park Street, Nandar Road.

Aung Padamyar Indian Restaurant: together with Golden City in Yangon and Lakshmi in Mandalay serves the best Indian food in Myanmar and at reasonable prices ~ 44, 28 Block, Thumingala Quarter

Golden Triangle Cafe: excellent coffee and cakes. Try their brandy snaps when available - on the Mandalay-Lashio Road near to the Clock Tower
