Day.1 Arrive Yangon in morning, check into hotel and have a tour briefing. After lunch go birding in the parks, downtown Yangon where some common birds like-Common Myna, Little Cormorants, Black Drongo, Tailor Bird, Green Bee-eater, Bulbuls will be introduced. Drive along the Hlaing River to get a look at the Brown-headed Gull. Visit the famous Shwedagon Pagoda later in the evening.

Day.2 Early morning drive to Hlawga Wild life Park which is on the outskirts of Yangon to look out for Pale-capped Pigeon, Racket-tailed Treepie, Stripe-throated Bulbul with white eye which is only found in south Myanmar, Sunbirds, Orioles, Flower-peckers, Bee-eatrers and some, Babblers etc. After lunch drive to Moeyungyi Sanctuary, a vast area of wetland situated about 110 km north of Yangon. Spend the evening birding along the shores of the wetland, looking out for birds like the Bluethroat ,Thick-billed Warbler, Wagtails, Pipits, Golden Plovers, Harriers and Kites. Dinner and overnight at the resort in the sanctuary.
Day.3 Take an early boat ride in the sanctuary looking for Greater spotted Eagle, Woolly-necked Stork, Asian Openbill, Sarus Crane, Spot-billed Pelican, Painted Stork among thousands of waders and shorebirds. This sanctuary is a 40 square mile area with about 80 species of birds. Spend the whole morning birding in the sanctuary and after lunch drive back to Yangon.
Day.4 Fly to Bagan in the morning. After lunch those who are tired can have an afternoon siesta. In the evening take a short boat ride along the Irrawaddy River to look for Sand Larks, Indian Skimmer, Indian River Tern, Black-bllied Tern, Pied Kingfisher and Little Tern as well as some water birds.
Day.5 Morning birding in Bagan where one can see the endemic Burmese BushLark and White-throated Babbler, White-bellied Minivet, Spotted Owlet, Rain Quail, Button Quail, Vinous-breasted Starling and another 20-30 species. Also visit the famous Temples and Pagodas built during the Bagan era about 700-1100 years ago.

Day.6 Early morning drive about 45 minutes to Chauk and cross the Irrawaddy River to begin our journey to the Chin hills. In the lowland forest along the way we will see the endemic Hooded Treepie, Alexandrine, Grey-headed, Red-breasted and Blossom-headed Parakeets, White-rumped Falcon, White-eyed Buzzard, Woodpeckers, Babblers, Laughingthrushes, Minivets, Orioles, Chinese Francolin , Red Junglefowl, Green Pigeons and many more. Our destination is to a basic but comfortable bungalow in Kanpetlet. Kanpetlet is a town in Chin State the nearest to central Myanmar. It is situated at 1400 meters south-east of Mt. Victoria which is also called Khaw-nu-thone in Chin and Nat-ma-taung in Myanmar, meaning Mother of Spirits, in both languages. We spend all Mt. Victoria nights at the bungalow where the temperature is cool and pleasant.
Day.7
to 12
Birding in the Nat-ma-taung (Mt. Victoria) National Park which comprises 280 sq. miles and is home to the endemic White-browed Nuthatch and Black-bibbed Tit. Various types of habitats on the mountain such as mixed oak and rhododendrons, Montane bamboo patches, board leaf evergreen forest, Pine forest, thick secondary growth with tall grass and scrub, Semicultivated fields and grass lands are rich in birds and a number of specialities like Brown-capped Laughing-thrush, Black-headed Shrike Babbler, Grey Sibia, Blue-winged Laughingthrush, Chestsnut-crowned Laughingthrush, Striped Laughingthrush, Slender-billed Scimitar Babbler, Spot-breasted Scimitar Babbler, Brown Bush-Warbler Russet Bush Warbler, Broad-billed Warbler, Spot-breasted Parrotbill Black-throated Parrotbill can be found. During the days in Mt. Victoria (Nat-ma-taung) National Park we will be exploring different elevations with different habitats everyday. Birds like Mountain Bamboo Patridge, Thrushes, Robins and Kalij Pheasants are usually seen on the road while driving up the mountain every morning. 5 species of Nuthatches are found at 5 different elevations, the White-browed at the highest and the Velvet-fronted at the lowest. Great birds like Blyth’s Tragopan and Hume’s Pheasant are also a possibility. Rare and colorful birds like Fire tailed Sunbird, Gould’s Sunbird, Cutia, Chestnut-tailed Minla, Blue-Winged Minla, Scarlet Finch, Minivets, Robins, Fly catchers will keep you excited all the time. In fact it was said that, for those who have never been to this area before, there is a new bird in every meter you walk. You can relax in the evening with locally brewed Khaungyay and those interested in tradition and culture can take a visit to nearby villages which is home to tattoo-faced Chin tribes. If you think the thrill is not enough you can climb up to the summit which is 3110 meters high and about half a day’s walk from the highest motorable place.
Day.13

Drive back to Bagan and those who have missed the lowland specialities will have a chance to see them again. Overnight at a hotel in Bagan.

Morning flight to Yangon. All day   free-and-easy Yangon. International departures.
